This role will partner closely with Finance leadership and external advisors to design and implement scalable tax processes that support continued business growth. This role is ideal for a proactive, hands-on tax leader who leverages automation and systems to build scalable tax operations while serving as the company's primary internal tax resource.
The Tax Manager will own a broad range of responsibilities across sales tax, corporate income tax coordination, compliance, audit support, and tax planning initiatives. This is a hands-on role that requires someone who can operate independently, manage multiple tax work streams, and drive meaningful process improvements while ensuring accuracy and compliance across all jurisdictions.
What you'll do
  • Manage end-to-end tax compliance and reporting across sales & use, corporate income tax coordination, and indirect taxes, including timely filing and payment of all federal, state, local, and international obligations
  • Coordinate outsourced corporate income tax return preparation and serve as primary internal liaison with external tax advisors
  • Lead end-to-end sales tax compliance operations, including overall workflow management, nexus monitoring, taxability determination, filings, and exemption certificate management
  • A key initial priority for this role will be to evaluate, implement, and optimize our sales tax automation tools, including a comprehensive review of nexus monitoring, taxability determination, filing processes, ERP integrations and related workflows.
  • Partner with international tax advisors to ensure VAT/GST/HST compliance and cross-border tax reporting requirements
  • Manage responses to tax notices, audits, and regulatory inquiries
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
  • Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure proper tax accounting and reporting treatment
  • Support tax planning initiatives and provide guidance to cross-functional teams and senior leadership on the tax implications of business decisions

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
  • CPA preferred; MST a plus
  • 6-8+ years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or multi-jurisdiction tax compliance
  • Deep understanding of corporate income tax processes & experience coordinating corporate income tax returns with external advisors
  • Exposure to international tax (VAT/GST/HST)
  • Strong experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including nexus rules and multi-jurisdictional tax regulations
  • Experience implementing or managing sales tax automation tools (Avalara, Vertex, or similar)
  • ERP/accounting systems experience and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and operate independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts for non-tax audiences

Benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package which may include:
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match (annual dollar cap applied)
  • Flexible time off plan
  • 15 paid holidays
  • Sick leave (amount varies by state requirements and is at least the minimum required by any state)
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Life insurance
  • Paid parental leave

We're an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We consider qualified candidates without regard to any legally protected status. This role is subject to applicable employment laws based on work location. In compliance with pay transparency laws, the compensation range for this role is included, with final pay based on experience, skills, and location.
