Job Summary
The Income Tax Accountant supports corporate income tax compliance and tax accounting activities for multiple legal entities. This role assists with quarterly and annual tax provision preparation, federal and state tax return support, fixed asset tax reporting, indirect tax compliance, and special projects. The position is designed to develop foundational corporate tax knowledge while working under senior tax leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Income Tax Accounting
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision workpapers in accordance with GAAP
  • Analyze general ledger data to calculate book-to-tax differences
  • Maintain schedules for depreciation, inventory, compensation-related items, and other tax adjustments
  • Prepare income tax journal entries and account reconciliations

Income Tax Compliance
  • Organize financial data and tax adjustments for federal and state income tax returns
  • Support state apportionment calculations and estimated tax payments
  • Enter data into tax compliance software and reconcile returns to provision amounts
  • Assist with documentation related to tax notices and audits

Fixed Assets & Other Compliance
  • Reconcile fixed asset data for tax depreciation and reporting
  • Maintain tax depreciation schedules in coordination with the Tax Manager
  • Assist with Form 990 preparation, extensions, and estimated payments
  • Support franchise, gross receipts, occupancy, and other state/local filings

Tax Research & Indirect Tax
  • Conduct basic federal and state tax research and summarize findings
  • Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, business license, and other indirect tax filings
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master of Taxation preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Internship or up to two years of accounting or tax experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Experience with income tax compliance software preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
