Job description

Role 

As the SPM Welder II, one is responsible for all functions listed below. 

The job duties herein describe essential functions of the position. Additionally, regular attendance and punctuality are essential to the success of the position. The individual should be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodations. 

Essential Functions 

  • Ability to read and comprehend welding drawings and weld symbols. 

  • Ability to Fit-Up Side pocket Mandrels 

  • Ability to maintain Shop Supervisors production and efficiency goals. 

  • Fusion weld Sleeves into Upper Swages 

  • Perform related tasks such as grinding. 

  • Repair cracked equipment. 

  • Inspect materials to be welded. 

  • Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating. 

  • Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures 

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area. 

  • Follow verbal or written instructions. 

  • Maintain acceptable reject, scrap rates, and production rates. 

  • Identify problems and be able to correct most of them with little assistance. 

  • Maintain proper maintenance of machine, equipment and facilities and keep in proper condition. 

  • Responsible for recording all labor hours with time system accurately. 

  • May assist in training new employees in proper machining techniques. 

  • Inspection of hand or power tools for suitability prior to use 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • High School Degree or GED 

  • 5 years related experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience or approved by the manager. 

Skills, Abilities & Work Style 

  • Ability to read engineering prints and WPS. 

  • Ability to adjust machine settings to WPS. 

  • Ability to perform mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. 

  • Ability to use proper measuring tools to perform quality inspections. 

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal. 

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Ability to move or transfer products on with an overhead crane. Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. 

  •  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.  

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
