Job description

Federal Signal is hiring a Systems Application Specialist. This position will perform technical planning, quoting, system clarifications to assist internal/external customers with development of correct engineered solution

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Perform all levels of system support to include, but not limited to concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of Public Address General Alarm, Analog/Digital Radio Systems, IP Networks, Wireless Broadband, Satellite, and Cellular Systems.
  • Complete required documentation for each project so the technical support team could seamlessly provide Tier-1 support to customers.
  • Ability to create presentations related to Systems design to influence specification writing with Engineering consultants Domestically and Internationally.
  • Prepare special manuals, wiring diagrams, and system test procedures ensuring that all engineered systems are configured to meet customer specifications, applicable engineering standards, and are completely tested, documented and filed.
  • Consult with company engineering on specifications that affect form, fit, or function.
  • Provide technical support for initiative’s relative to Legacy Warning Systems customers and potential Take over responsibilities.
  • Up to 25% travel required to the field and/ or trade shows, Customer on site training, including international travel.
  • Ensures SMV designs meet and/or exceed customer requirements and adhere FSC SMV Policies/Procedures.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements/ Skills:

  • Technical Associates of Science degree with a concentration in Electronics, Electrical, Industrial engineering or related field highly preferred. 4 years of applicable working experience will be considered in lieu of Associates of Science degree.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in building and testing electronic systems.
  • Proficient in AC/DC electronic circuits and moderate level understanding of low voltage electrical work.
  • Proficient in RF products including analyzers, switches, and antennas.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting computer hardware including PC, servers, etc.
  • Can quickly and successfully adapt to a fast paced, ever changing environment who can work independently and with a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred expertise in configuring and troubleshooting systems like SCADA, notification systems, public address systems, analog/digital radio systems.
  • Preferred expertise in configuring and troubleshooting IP Networks: configuring routers and switches, strong foundation of TCP/IP protocol.
  • Preferred expertise in configuring and troubleshooting wireless broadband like Cambium, Firetide, Cisco, Uviquiti or equivalent.

Wage Range: $54,454 - $77,792
