Mainframe Tools Application Specialist

On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Mainframe Tools Application Specialist for a contract opportunity in Dallas, TX.

Mainframe Tools Application Specialist Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • This role supports the mainframe tools and technologies deployed.  A Tools Application Specialist performs technical activities to build, maintain, configure and support applications that support internal and external customers.
  • Design, implement, and maintain business critical tools and applications.
  • Create and maintain the technical quality of the solution by conducting reviews of the code, database model, and system architecture.
  • Provide security and database administration for assigned applications.
  • Design and implement database server technologies including stored procedures, data transformation services, views, triggers and backups. Through testing, ensure that all code meets specifications and is easily maintainable, secure and well documented.  Follow the established development, code management and deployment procedures.
  • Provide documentation for all assigned development proposals and solutions in the company standard format.  Assist with the development of user documentation and training as required.
  • Implement new functionality and modifications to applications as required.

 Scope

  • Management Infrastructure, Shared Environments, Client Specific Environments
  • Mainframe and some distributed environments

Qualifications

  • Experienced with CA products View, Deliver, Doc Web, Endevor, Harvest, and Automation
  • Experienced in Rexx coding for use in Automation scripts
  • Experienced with Control M and administrator functions within the tool
  • Experience with JCL for use in Endevor, Automation, and running scripts for View & Deliver
  • Experience with SQL is helpful for reporting on the Harvest application
  • Able to work with the business community in an analyst-to-solution role, with strong business acumen and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and gather information from business end-users
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to discern actual requirements from often incomplete and vague customer requests.
  • Ability to debug situations to determine root cause of an incident and identify solutions.

Mainframe Tools Application Specialist Mandatory Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 10 - 15  years of relevant experience with CA products
  • JCL and Rexx coding skills
  • Administration functions for Control M
  • Experience with MVS operating system
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with ITSM, network, storage, security, and cloud Management Tools
  • Skills: ITIL v3, JCL, and Rexx
