Responsibilities
Position summary:
Produces laser cuts for fabrication processes by setting up, programming, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) laser cutting machine in a safe, productive manner, ensuring all quality standards are met or exceeded.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Operating single or multiple CNC laser cutting machines, including loading raw material and ensuring quality by maintaining focal point adjustment, feed rate, power, and other parameters.
  • Ensures machine optics are maintained by performing tests and procedures, including tape shots, lens focusing, lens cleaning, nozzle cleaning, and replacement of any worn items.
  • Labels finished parts accurately and delivers them to designated areas.
  • Monitors laser operations to ensure machine is functioning properly and safely; records machine code errors and communicates performance issues to the supervisor.
  • Uses inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
  • De-burrs and cleans parts.
  • Maintains quality, productivity, and safety records.
  • Maintains supplies and performs regular preventive maintenance.
  • Assists other operators with operating, inspecting, and cleaning machines and parts.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area.
  • Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures.
  • Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC operating experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
  • Knowledge of CNC laser-cutting operations
  • Ability to read a tape measure and micrometer
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • LOTO certification required
  • Crane operation certification required
  • Forklift operation certification required
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

ADA Requirements:
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Visual Acuity: The worker is required to: have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Job Conditions:
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
