Job description

Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer
Company: AISIN World Corp. of America
Department: Purchasing, SPTT
Location: Seymour, IN
Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
  • Communicate and partner with plant Purchasing, Quality, Supplier Quality or Supplier Engineering Development (SED)/ Supplier Part Tracking Team (SPTT), Design, and New Model planning members.
  • Communicate and partner with assigned suppliers.
  • Manage and/or lead supplier production preparation schedule to meet AISIN delivery and quality requirements.
  • Lead and/or participate in Supplier Part Tracking Team (SPTT)/ Supplier Production Verification (SPV) process, and/or special process audits.
  • Lead and/or participate in the review and assessment of quality management systems for new suppliers.
  • Lead and/or participate in the review, assessment, and improvement activity, of targeted suppliers. Focus on manufacturing processes and quality improvements.
  • Visit assigned suppliers regularly and communicate results to AISIN and the affected plant.
  • Provide training to suppliers and North American Production with respect to Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM).
  • Track supplier performance metrics regionally.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment in a quality or process/manufacturing technician or engineering role.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 and/or IATF16949 quality systems standards.
  • Understand Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to review manufacturing process, analyze activities, and develop potential actions for improvement of manufacturing process and quality systems.
  • Ability to review and revise documents (e.g. Supplier Quality Assurance Manual - SQAM) for improvements in content and usability.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Ability to develop training materials and provide training where required for suppliers and plants.

Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Experience with machining processes
  • Experience with heat treat applications
  • Skilled in Microsoft Access from a database development standpoint
  • AIAG Core Tools Training

Education/Training/Certifications
  • Associate degree (or equivalent experience) preferably in a Math or Engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • ASQ certification as Technician or Engineer and/or NSPE as Professional Engineer highly desirable.

Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 25-50 %
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
