Job Summary:
Supermicro is a leading provider of advanced server, storage, and networking solutions. The Senior Director of Networking Switch Software Product Management will own and manage the SONiC-based networking switch software roadmap, engage with customers to understand their needs, and lead industry forums to promote Supermicro's software position.
Responsibilities:
• Groom, own, and evolve the SONiC-based networking switch software roadmap, ensuring alignment with market trends, customer demands, and Supermicro’s long-term vision for high-performance Layer 2/3 switching, routing, and data center fabrics.
• Develop and execute differentiated roadmaps for networking switch software that clearly position Supermicro ahead of competitors through unique SONiC features, performance advantages, automation capabilities, and ecosystem integration.
• Translate customer pain points and industry requirements into actionable networking switch software specifications, features, and priorities.
• Lead Supermicro’s participation and influence in key SONiC industry forums, open-source communities, standards bodies, and consortia to promote Supermicro’s networking switch software position and shape future industry direction.
• Act as a thought leader and advocate for Supermicro’s SONiC networking switch software solutions both internally and externally.
• Proactively engage with key customers to understand evolving needs for networking switch software, provide technical and strategic guidance on SONiC implementations, and ensure timely follow-up on requirements and feedback.
• Deliver executive updates and executive briefing meetings with customers and senior stakeholders to communicate SONiC product vision, networking switch software roadmap progress, and value propositions.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of Product Managers and technical contributors focused on networking switch software, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, solutions engineering, sales, marketing, and business units to align SONiC networking switch software strategy with execution and go-to-market plans.
• Convey market, customer, and competitive insights back to engineering and executive leadership to influence future hardware/software co-design and product development for Supermicro’s networking switch portfolio.
• Maintain deep expertise in networking switch software technologies, including SONiC NOS, Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols, SDN, automation frameworks, and large-scale data center architectures.
• Identify and drive innovation opportunities in SONiC-based network automation, assurance, and software-defined infrastructure to deliver measurable business value in networking switch software.
• Establish clear product goals, success metrics, and prioritization frameworks to ensure on-time delivery of networking switch software releases and maximum market impact.
• Analyze competitive landscape, cost implications, risks, and business outcomes to support data-driven decision making for SONiC networking switch software initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Extensive experience in networking switch software product management, with deep knowledge of SONiC, network switches, routing protocols, SDN, automation, and large-scale data center infrastructure deployments.
• Proven track record leading SONiC or equivalent networking switch software roadmaps and successfully differentiating products in highly competitive markets.
• Demonstrated ability to lead SONiC industry forums, influence open-source standards, and represent a company at the executive level.
• Strong customer engagement skills with experience conducting executive briefings and translating complex networking switch software concepts into business value.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Preferred:
• Thought leadership and active contributions to the SONiC open-source community and networking industry organizations.
• Strong business acumen and ability to link SONiC networking switch software roadmaps to revenue growth and competitive advantage.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
• Experience with large-scale SONiC deployments in hyperscale/cloud customer environments.
