Architect – Data Center Design & Delivery

This is a full-time exempt (40+ hours/week), hybrid role located in Austin, TX; San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; or Seattle, WA.

Summary

We are seeking an Architect to support the development of next‑generation, AI‑optimized data center facilities across a rapidly scaling global build program. This role blends deep technical expertise in architectural design, building codes, fire and life safety, and construction documentation with a fast‑paced, execution‑focused environment.

The successful candidate will own architectural scope across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring facilities are safe, code‑compliant, optimized for high‑density compute workloads, and delivered at speed. This role involves close collaboration with internal engineering teams and external AEC partners to define, refine, and execute standardized yet adaptable data center designs across global sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural design development for new data center builds and retrofits across all project phases, from conceptual design through construction documentation and site handover
  • Coordinate architectural scope with multidisciplinary teams including:
    • Mechanical engineering
    • Electrical engineering
    • Structural engineering
    • Security and operations teams
  • Integrate architectural design requirements into broader data center system‑level designs
  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and continuous improvement of standardized data center design templates and global design standards
  • Conduct design reviews to validate:
    • Building code compliance
    • Fire and life safety requirements
    • Space planning and layout optimization
    • Alignment with internal design standards
  • Review and approve construction‑level drawings and specifications from internal and external design teams
  • Serve as the escalation point for site‑specific design adaptations, including local code compliance and site constraint resolution
  • Manage external architecture and engineering consultants through all design phases, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and alignment with project requirements
  • Use tools such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Construction Cloud to support design coordination and documentation workflows
  • Participate in cross‑functional design and engineering reviews with internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Ensure architectural designs support high‑density compute environments and AI infrastructure requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of design standards based on operational feedback and project learnings
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent professional discipline
  • 3+ years of experience working on industrial, mission‑critical, or data center projects within an AEC environment
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, fire and life safety requirements, and construction standards
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent design workstreams across internal teams and external consultants
  • Proficiency with:
    • Autodesk Revit
    • AutoCAD
    • Bluebeam
    • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical design decisions to stakeholders and leadership
  • Experience coordinating design deliverables through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases
  • Ability to operate in fast‑paced, high‑ownership environments with evolving requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Architecture or related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience as a Licensed Architect (NCARB certification preferred)
  • Experience leading hyperscale or high‑density data center design programs
  • Familiarity with AI infrastructure requirements and GPU‑dense computing environmentsExperience managing external AEC vendors in large‑scale infrastructure programs
  • Working knowledge of design automation tools such as Python or Dynamo within Revit workflows
  • Experience adapting standard design templates to local jurisdictional requirements and site constraints
  • Exposure to rapidly scaling infrastructure development programs
