Are you interested in helping welcome our newest Wolverines to campus? We are looking for dedicated student leaders for the 2026/2027 Orientation Leader Team, and we want you to be part of it! We are seeking to add fun, friendly, and passionate Wolverines to one of the best teams on campus!
UVU Orientation Leaders are a team of highly motivated, diverse student leaders who play a pivotal role in helping new students and their families transition to UVU. Orientation Leaders serve as official representatives of UVU during New Student Orientation, helping new students learn about university life and campus resources using personal experiences and encouraging students to establish meaningful connections with other first-year students.
Orientation Leaders actively engage with students and families who attend Jumpstart Orientation, providing an energetic and welcoming environment for all new Wolverines. The UVU Orientation Leader experience offers students an exceptional leadership opportunity unlike any other on campus. Orientation Leaders gain experience and develop valuable skills in communication, group facilitation, team building and collaboration, problem-solving, time management, public speaking, professionalism, and leadership!
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Serve as a role model and source of information regarding academics, campus resources, policies and procedures, activities, and other aspects of life at UVU
  • Lead campus tours, facilitate engaging and well-organized small group discussions, and present workshop sessions
  • Provide proactive customer service to new students and families throughout Jumpstart Orientation
  • Assist in all aspects of set up and take down for each Jumpstart Orientation session
  • Assist in the preparation of Jumpstart Orientation activities and materials
  • Provide staffing and logistical support for additional FYE events, including support and attendance at Freshman Convocation
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects under 50 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Must be a current UVU student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Complete Orientation Leadership course in Fall 2026/Spring 2027.
  • Must be available to attend all required spring dates, including Orientation Leader trainings and the Orientation Leader retreat
  • Must be available to work Jumpstart Orientation events and Freshman Convocation in Summer 2027.

  • A love for UVU and the ability to convey school pride, positive enthusiasm, and excitement for university endeavors.
  • Commitment to helping new students during their transition to college.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive environment and making all visitors to UVU's campus feel welcome and respected.
  • Ability to learn and accurately share information about campus resources, services, and programs with new students and families.
  • Desire to learn how to facilitate small group discussions for new students.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member and work well with others.
  • Must exhibit dependability, responsibility, punctuality, and energy in a professional work environment.
  • Be friendly and possess good communication skills. Ability to proactively engage new students and family members in conversation.
  • Prior campus involvement in clubs, organizations, or other campus roles is preferred, but not required.
