Job description


The Social Media team is a part of our Marketing and Communications department and is responsible for managing and advancing Navy Federal's enterprise-wide social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Reddit and keeping the pulse on new or emerging platforms for potential expansion. We partner with business units, other marketing channel teams, our Social Care Team, and agency partners to identify member and business needs and design social media strategy solutions.
Our team blends strategy, creativity, and data to deliver engaging, social-first content to members and prospects. We use platform-native media (e.g., short-form video, animated graphics, and influence partnerships) to drive brand and product awareness, financial education, acquisition, and affinity, showing up in the moments that matter most. We collaborate with our internal creative team and external media and sports agencies to bring campaigns to life.
The Summer Associate will have the opportunity to support our influencer marketing program, paid social campaign management, product marketing and financial education on social media.
Potential Summer Associate project:
  • The Summer Associate may work on a project with a focus on the influencer marketing program. Examples topics include, How Financial Institutions Can Leverage Influencers to Activate on Trends, Reaching Gen Z with Financial Education through Influencer Marketing, How Regulated Organizations Can Entertain on Social Media, Social Selling through Creator Partnerships.

They will receive guidance and direction from the team and management. Utilize and further develop technical and soft skills, business knowledge, and creative problem-solving abilities. Provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2027 and ending in August 2027. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a multi-year strategic plan to maximize Navy Federal's brand awareness on social media platforms and ensure alignment with enterprise and department strategies, with a focus on our influencer marketing program.
  • Help identify opportunities for influencer marketing support and ideate on relevant trends and content formats to leverage.
  • Write campaign intakes for influencer agency to convert into creator briefs and facilitate compliance approval.
  • Assist in the vetting and selection of influencers to partner with for always on and seasonal initiatives.
  • Review influencer concepts, scripts and video drafts for brand safety, authenticity and platform relevance.
  • Aid in the execution of paid social support for creator posts with our media agency.
  • Evaluate organic and paid performance to identify successful creators and tactics to employ in future activations.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications stakeholders to ensure alignment with business unit objectives and similar campaign activations on other digital channels.
  • Provide ad hoc support to Social Media team; depending on the level of expertise and prior experience, will own small projects and assist strategists with larger projects.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities or challenges.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as a priority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, review sites, and emerging media.
  • Understanding of social media best practices and execution.
  • Awareness of influencer marketing landscape and current trends.
  • Interest in social media, influencer marketing and financial services industry.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
