This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Intern in Columbus, OH, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting real project work while learning from a collaborative team.

You'll support project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help the team deliver work across industrial, manufacturing, and MEP-focused projects. This role offers exposure to project coordination, documentation, and field observations while building your experience in design consulting.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with design portions of mechanical systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement

What You'll Bring

Required Education

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Ohio Pay Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
