Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of this position is to educate and teach graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a mater's degree in Speech Language Pathology. As one of the campuses of the University of North Caroloina (UNC) system, North Carolina Central University is located in Durham near Research Triangle Park. The Department of Communication Science and Disorders (CSD) is a full-time, campus based graduate program and features a curriculum that intergrates research, evidence based clinical experiences, and a focus on serving diverse populations. The Master of Science degree program in speech language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation Association. The NCCU Speech, Langauge, and Hearing Clinic provide speech, lanuage, and hearing evaluations and treatment services for monolingual and bilingual clients from birth through adult age.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Earned a Master's or doctorate in Speech Language Pathology, Speech-Hearing Science, or Communication Scientce and Disorders. Candidates must have a certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP and at least 2 years of clinical supervision experience. Must meet the requirements for clinical supervision stated by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and be eligilbe for North Caroina Lincensure.
Minimum Education/Experience
Faculty teaching undergraduate courses: PH.D or master's degree in the teacing discipline or related field. Faculty teaching graduate courses; earned a Ph.D/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. NCCU also considers related work experience in the field, professional licensure and certification, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, and other demostrated achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from ASHA; possess or eligible for NC licensure in Speech Lanugage Pthology, documentation of tow (2) hours of professional development/ continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision if offered the position.
