POSITION DESCRIPTION The Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and dedicated candidate to work as a Youth Center Kitchen Operations Staff. The ideal candidate will be reliable, timely, and have a strong work ethic. Under the supervision of the Youth Center Kitchen Manager, Kitchen Operations Staff are responsible for helping with food preparation of all meals, serving on a hot food line, dishwashing and general cleaning of the dining room during the 11 days of the Wisconsin State Fair.
The kitchen serves three meals a day, all 11 days of the fair. This position will work the hours from 11am until 9pm daily. EMPLOYMENT TYPE This position is an unclassified, seasonal Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system.
This role will work in a full-time capacity over the 11-day annual Wisconsin State Fair, which includes weekends. There may be additional work hours offered before and/or after the annual fair. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.
COMPENSATION The starting wage for this role will be $14.00 per hour. WHO CAN APPLY This position is open to all qualified State of Wisconsin residents who meet the outlined criteria. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain a safe work environment Demonstrate knowledge of ServSafe food handling practices Demonstrate knowledge and practice basic safe food handling procedures, including the preparation, service and storage of various types of food Follow established food cost control procedures to prevent loss due to theft, spoilage, overproduction and waste Ensure that meals are properly prepped for next shift and cooking area is clean and sanitized by shift end Help to run dishwasher and put away dishes after each meal period Help to serve food from a hot food line All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required to demonstrate proficiency in sanitation, workplace safety and food production
This position will involve meal production Must have excellent communication skills Must be 16 years of age or older Must have strong organizational skills Ability to stand or walk for long periods on hard floors Ability to lift pans of prepared food weighing up to 40 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds when storing and stocking equipment and food products SPECIAL NOTES The candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair.
