Job Description

Job Title:    Newcomer ML Teacher- Summer

Salary Schedule:   Compensation for Summer School will be provided at a flat hourly rate of $45 for Certified Staff and $22.50 for Classified Staff. Payment will be based on actual hours worked and logged into the Timekeeper system. These hourly rates include all local supplements.

Reports To:  School/Site Administrator  

Salary Grade:  See above 

Work Location:  FPG (Elementary), Smith (Middle), CHS (High)

FLSA Status:   

Dates of Program: July 8 - July 31, 2024  (M-TH)

 

Closed July 4 and Fridays 

 

Additional Required Teacher Workdays:

 
  • July 1-2 and August 1, 2024

7:30 AM - 2:30 PM Daily (staff workday)

 

8:00 AM - 2:00 PM Daily (student hours)

 

8:15 AM - 3:45 PM Daily (staff workday)

 

8:45 AM - 3:15 PM Daily (student Hours)

Essential Duties

  • Teach the NC English Language Proficiency Standard Course of Study and instruct students in a classroom in accordance with NC-approved language instruction. 

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.  Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

  • Attend all student days and teacher work days.

  • Enter student data as needed.

  • Set up and take down the classroom space.

  • Plan and teach whole group and small group math lessons.  

  • Communicate with parents as needed. 

  • Support students with math coursework.

  • Perform before-school and after-school duties as needed, including arrival and dismissal. 


Education/Experience Requirements



  • N.C. ESL teacher certification is required

  • Highly Qualified designation in ESL

  • Certification in additional core content areas is preferred
