Position Description
BSU has built a nationally known Undergraduate Research program with significant funding & opportunities for students in any major to discover new knowledge and make original contributions to their discipline or community.
Position Summary
The Copy Editors of the Undergraduate Review journal support several stages of the manuscript-review process for BSU's journal of undergraduate scholarly work. This Summer position entails proofreading and editing students' manuscripts to prepare them for publication, for up to 10 hours/week, late May-July.
Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Proofread revised manuscripts for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and usage.
  • Proofread bibliographic information to ensure adherence to MLA, APA, or Chicago Style (depending on the student-author's academic discipline).
  • Edit final manuscripts, as well as author bio sketches, and other materials to be published in the journal.

Eligibility requirements:
Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with copy editing (e.g., for The Bridge)
  • Excellent writing, revision, proofreading, and copyediting skills
  • Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and usage
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to focus while proofreading
  • Ability to work independently
  • Facility with Microsoft Word and its functions
