Department Summary

The Department of Public Administration is an interdisciplinary department that houses a Ph.D. in Public Administration, Master's degrees in Public Administration, and Bachelor's degrees in Public Administration. We offer a dynamic blend of theory and practice that prepares our students for impactful careers in public service.
Graduate students have the opportunity to pursue a Master of Public Administration (MPA), respected nationally for its excellence-ranked #6 in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and #10 in Local Government Management by U.S. News and World Report. For those aiming to delve deeper into research and leadership, our Ph.D. program in Public Administration and Management also offers a nationally ranked, robust pathway.
Undergraduates can choose from degrees in Urban Policy and Planning (UPOP) or Nonprofit Leadership Studies (NPLS), with additional minors and certificate programs in volunteer management and conflict resolution. In addition, our in-house internship coordinator is dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between academic study and professional success.

Position Overview

The Department of Public Administration seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester, and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
Courses may include any courses in our undergraduate and MPA programs.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in public administration or related field of study, or a master's degree in public administration with a strong record of professional work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned terminal degree (MPA or closely related field)
Previous teaching experience at the college or university level, including online instruction.
Experience using instructional technologies and learning management systems (LMS) to support teaching and learning.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
