Job description

WORLD CAMP
Join a dynamic and multicultural team this summer at World Camp! Run by experienced teachers and instructors at the Lycée Français de Chicago, our camps offer daily opportunities for fun and learning all summer long. Children from over 100 local and international schools meet to form new friendships and learn from each other and from our team of talented teachers.
We offer language immersion day camps in French, but also in Arabic, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Tagalog thanks to partnerships with great local schools and organizations recognized for their expertise. These partnerships bring energy to our camps, help create new friendships and make World Camp a truly international experience.
To build bridges between campers, languages and cultures, full camp events are organized every week, such as Tuesday field trips, Fridays at the beach with BBQ, and an end of camp celebration is organized at the end of each session allowing students to showcase their camp accomplishments.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
We are looking for camp supervisors and camp counselors to run World Camp for this summer. See description below.
CAMP SUPERVISOR
Camp supervisors are directly responsible for the preparation, supervision and management of their own group of students. As a camp supervisor, you will be asked to manage the following responsibilities or perform the following tasks:
  • Prepare weekly schedules of activities for each session based on the themes established for each session;
  • Implement a schedule of fun and dynamic activities;
  • Prepare supplies orders for their own camp;
  • Lead a team of 1 to 2 camp counselors;
  • Provide prepared orders to camp administration for approval;
  • Serve as support to camp counselors as needed;
  • Ensure that language of immersion of camp is spoken at all times;
  • Attend required staff training and staff preparation meeting(s);
  • Attend All staff meetings;
  • Ensure the safety of students and create a comfortable environment for all;
  • Comply with all camp policies and procedures.

  • Comply with all safety and COVID-related protocols
Requirements:
  • Camp supervisor Level 1: Teaching diploma with 2+ years of teaching experience
  • Camp supervisor Level 2: 5+ years of teaching experience
  • Camp supervisor Level 3: 2+ years of experience working with children in any capacity required
  • Native speaker in the language of camp preferred, or high level of fluency at minimum
  • A demonstrated passion for Education

CAMP COUNSELOR
As a camp counselor, you will be asked to perform the following tasks and/or instructions:
  • Help implement a schedule of fun and dynamic activities, and contribute to ensuring the safety and excellent supervision of students;
  • Speak the language of immersion of your camp at all times;
  • Attend staff training and staff preparation meeting(s) as invited;
  • Attend All staff meetings;
  • Ensure safety of students and create a comfortable environment for all;
  • Comply with all camp policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Lycée Francais de Chicago Employee Handbook
  • Comply with all safety and COVID-related protocols
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children in any capacity preferred
  • Demonstrated passion for education
  • Native speaker or fluent in the language of the camp

CAMP DIRECTION
Camp Supervisors and camp counselors work under the direct supervision of the Office of Auxiliary Programs.
Additional Information
  • There are no healthcare benefits.
  • The pay range is $18/h - $35/h, depending on the exact role.
