Director of Legal Operations

Columbia, South Carolina


Jones Networking is recruiting for a Director of Legal Operations to join a growing Personal Injury Law Firm in Columbia, SC. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Firm, ensuring cases progress efficiently, staff remain accountable, and clients receive exceptional service throughout the legal process. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, operations, and process improvement experience within a law firm environment and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused setting. This role will require travel to the Firm's multiple offices throughout the Carolinas as needed.


Director of Legal Operations Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and oversight for all non-attorney staff across multiple office locations

- Conduct daily team huddles and weekly accountability meetings to drive productivity and performance

- Monitor attendance, scheduling, workload distribution, and employee performance metrics

- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while ensuring adherence to Firm policies and procedures

- Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, promotions, and corrective action

- Oversee case progression to ensure matters move efficiently through each stage of the legal process

- Monitor case management systems, task lists, workflows, and file activity to ensure deadlines are met

- Ensure claims are opened timely, client communication standards are maintained, and case milestones are achieved

- Track statutes of limitation, attorney review deadlines, and compliance-related requirements

- Conduct regular file audits and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance

- Address and resolve client concerns while maintaining exceptional customer service standards

- Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities to enhance the overall client experience

- Manage daily office operations, staffing schedules, workflows, and operational procedures

- Coordinate onboarding and ongoing training initiatives for support staff

- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements to increase productivity and consistency

- Generate and present operational reports related to case progression, staff productivity, compliance, and client service metrics

- Serve as the primary liaison between Firm leadership and support staff, escalating issues when attorney involvement is required

- Support the Firm's continued growth by ensuring operational excellence and consistent execution of established standards


Director of Legal Operations Requirements:

- 5+ years of operations, office management, legal administration, or leadership experience within a law firm environment preferred

- Ability to travel between multiple offices in the Carolinas.

- Experience managing teams, developing employees, and driving accountability

- Strong understanding of legal workflows, case management processes, and client service standards

- Experience overseeing multiple priorities and managing high-volume operations

- Proven ability to improve processes, implement procedures, and increase operational efficiency

- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

- Ability to effectively manage deadlines, workflows, and performance metrics

- Experience with legal case management software; Filevine experience is a plus

- Professional, proactive, and solutions-oriented leadership style
