Hankinson School District 8The Hankinson Public School is seeking applicants for substitute bus drivers for the 2024-25 school year. Morning routes are from approximately 7am to 8:15am . Afternoon routes are from approximately 3:15pm to 4:45pm. Substitute route drivers are paid $88.95 per day, plus $0.20 per mile. Drivers must hold or successfully obtain a valid CDL with passenger school bus endorsement. The school district will cover expenses to obtain license. Drivers must also complete a criminal background check.
If you are interested but have questions or are nervous about driving a bus, please contact Mr. Benson at the school. The licensure process is more lengthly with recent changes to CDL licensure so get started now. You will be provided with a highlighted study guide to make studying easy for the written exam. You will have the opportunity for plenty of practice, with a current driver, prior to the driving exam. The sooner that is started the better your chances of being licensed for the start of the school year.
If you are concerned about student behavior, please know that any issues are dealt with by the principals. Any behaviors that continue can result in the student being removed from the route for a period of time. We will help you learn to manage behaviors on your bus to reduce disttractions, creating a safe environment for everyone.
