Job description

General Purpose and Scope of Position: The Student Services Professional (SSP) serves as the initial point of contact for students on the Kokomo campus, providing guidance and support in key areas such as Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid, Orientation, Assessment, and Business Services. The SSP helps students navigate these processes efficiently and ensures they are well-informed about available resources. This role focuses on assisting students with their transition into Ivy Tech, answering questions, and directing them to appropriate campus services as needed. The SSP is knowledgeable in Assessment, Registration, and Financial Aid/Business Office Support to facilitate a smooth student experience. The position requires the employee to work two days a week 9am-6pm.
Major Responsibilities:
Student Services Professional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct targeted outreach to newly admitted students to coach them through their next steps and help prepare them for the first weeks of classes.
  • Manage caseload in a manner that promotes retention, persistence, and student success through proactive interactions and interventions.
  • Maintain and monitor case notes in electronic student record systems.
  • Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued, supported, and respected.
  • Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Recruit on behalf of Ivy Tech, sharing and selling the benefits of the Community College to meet the goal of increasing the number of inquiries and applicants to the College along with the conversion of those inquiries and applicants to help move students through the enrollment process.
  • Manage, effectively track, and recruit potential student groups with the use of a client relationship management (CRM) tool. Using Ivy Connect to assess the effectiveness of various recruitment efforts and adjust based on intake and conversion numbers.
  • Responsible for keeping current with academic and student affairs program changes.
Assessment-related responsibilities:
  • Answer questions and assist students with processes related to assessment questions and reviewing/applying assessment waivers, and make appropriate referrals to resources such as study materials, the Tutoring Center, or the Academic Advising Center
Registration-related responsibilities:
  • Counsel and assist students with the online registration process, answer questions, and assist students with Degree Tracker
Financial Aid-related responsibilities:
  • Answer general questions and/or make referrals to the Financial Aid Office for inquiries and completion of items related to the application for financial aid (FAFSA), verification, loan program eligibility and requirements, standards of progress, state and federal awards, scholarships, and work-study opportunities
Business Office Support-related responsibilities:
  • Answer inquiries related to Bookstore accounts, fund disbursements, Bank Mobile, tuition and fees, payment options, accounts, collections, and bursar holds.
Starting Salary Range: $41,000 - $43,000 based on skills, experience, and education
WORK HOURS: Most weekdays from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with two days per week working from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Some evening and Saturday hours may be required
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree required, bachelor's preferred
  • Strong communicator: exceptional interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with a proven ability to positively interact with customers, students, staff, or faculty
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment related to college policies
  • Flexibility to attend meetings or events after normal working hours
  • Prefers to work in a team
