Job description

75% - Student Engagement and Events
  • In person office hours twice a week to give tours to families and introduce guests to school facilities and resources.
  • Participate in JMC events and help with prospective student outreach throughout the year.
  •  On occasion, student ambassadors may need to work outside of their traditional office hours for special events.
15% - Recruitment Support and Activities
  • Support special projects that utilize ambassadors' unique skillset from classes and interests to assist JMC recruitment goals; could include social media posts, graphic design work, written testimonials, etc. 
  • Creating content to support recruitment efforts, including explaining course structure, providing insights regarding life at KU and in the JMC program, and collaborating with peers and supervisor to create a better visit experience for guests.
10% - Other duties as assigned,Journalism and Mass Communications student ambassadors assist the JMC undergraduate recruitment team in recruiting prospective students to the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Ambassadors will visit with families, participate in events, share personal stories and assist in outreach. Through these interactions, ambassadors will share insights about the department, helping to foster a welcoming and informative environment. The role also promotes greater student involvement in outreach and recruitment efforts, contributing to the growth and visibility of our undergraduate program.
