Summary
Reporting to the Director, the International Student Recruiter and Advisor is responsible for studying the potential markets for international recruitment and write a yearly plan with strategies and goals to increase enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students for the university. The recruiter and advisor is also responsible for implementing these strategies and reach projected annual goals by travelling abroad to seek and meet potential recruitment partners, attend international recruiting fairs, visit foreign high schools, participate in focused recruiting trips abroad, and take active part in on-line webinars aimed at international prospective students. The individual in this position will a) communicate with all prospective BGSU international students to provide them with the information they need to apply to BGSU; b) follow through with prospective students from application to admission; and c) advise all prospective international students applying to BGSU. The recruiter is also the one responsible for seeking new contracts with recruitment agencies abroad and for overseeing the on-site representatives recruiting for BGSU. Acting as the liaison with these partners overseas, the recruiter has the oversight of the operations abroad, including the supervision of any on-site representative. The recruiter will work closely with the Executive Director to analyze recruiting data and will develop recruitment reports as requested.
Essential Functions
  • Travels abroad three to four times a year as the sole BGSU representative to recruit prospective international students to attend international recruiting fairs, visit foreign high schools and universities; seek new opportunities with educational agencies and foreign cultural missions; communicate with current educational partners to grow the partnership; seek opportunities for online seminars, webinars, and live chats to promote the institution to prospective international students. Seeks new contracts and agreements with recruiting partners and universities abroad to increase enrollment opportunities at BGSU.
  • Advises all prospective BGSU international students from inquiry to admissions; maintains a system to track and follow up with prospective students in person or online.
  • Responsible for the oversight of any overseas BGSU recruiting partners on site to include securing contracts, training personnel, acting as their liaison with BGSU main campus, and billing for services.
  • Develops a yearly recruitment plan and makes recommendations to the International Programs and Partnerships Director about potential recruiting markets, develops recruiting strategies and goals to reach these markets, and creates marketing plans to implement these strategies. Responsible for estimating enrollment goals every year and be accountable for them to increase the number of international students at BGSU.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The following Degree is required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
The following Experience is required:
  • 3 years experience recruiting international student or other educational recruiting
The following Licensure, Certifications, or Registration is required:
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the university's vehicle use policy.
  • Valid American passport
The following minimum qualifications are preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or related field.
  • Recruiting international students in a University setting
