Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of International Student Services supports counselling, advising, immigration (F and J), and intercultural support for international students at Marist. The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering the international orientation program twice per year as well as supporting the Director of International Student Services to enhance internationalization at Marist through developing and delivering international and intercultural co-curricular events and activities that bring people together to share, learn, and connect.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, International Studies, Higher Education, or other related field
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • Working knowledge of F and J visa processes

Essential Functions:
  • Plan, coordinate, and administer the orientation program for international undergraduate, visiting, and graduate students including the screening, training, hiring, and supervising of international orientation leaders and student workers. Coordinate with the campus wide committees and offices involved with orientation.
  • Serve as DSO (Designated School Official) and manage SEVIS compliance for the DHS, provide information on immigration regulations to students, and serve as the ARO and ensure visitors on J exchange visas remain compliant.
  • Counsel and advise international students on academic, personal, intercultural, and career development. Plan and coordinate initiatives to help international students thrive at Marist and acclimate to life in the United States.
    Counsel students and assist them with applying to Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
  • Provide support and develop programming or initiatives designed to foster an inclusive environment and sense of belonging for the international student community.
  • Maintain current practices with compliance regulations regarding international students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.
  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity - Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
