Essential Duties
  • Assist a diverse student population with the process of applying for accommodations;
  • Meet with students on occasion regarding requested accommodations, and suggest these for approval by the Assistant Director of Student Disability Services;
  • Process initial applications and renewal forms;
  • Represent the Office of the Dean of Students during recruiting events and student orientation programs, visiting with prospective students and parents regarding services provided;
  • Represent Student Disability Services and the Office of the Dean of Students at off-campus events as needed;
  • Gain knowledge about and adhere to FERPA, maintaining the confidentiality of student information and all files about student disability services;
  • Gain knowledge in and use specific software including Accessibility Information Management (AIM), Banner, and Banner Self-Service to track and report on students;
  • Greet visitors to the Office of the Dean of Students and answer questions about all services provided in the office;
  • Assist in the planning, advertising, and implementation of awareness programs;
  • Administer exams and quizzes for students with accommodations;
  • Communicate with faculty regarding testing accommodations and ensuring the integrity of all exams;
  • Research and become familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the subsequent Amendment Act (ADAAA), and any legislation tied to the services offered through Student Disability Services;
  • Complete online training related to job duties and student disability services;
  • Operate a personal computer, laptop, and iPad;
  • Maintain familiarity with and knowledge of various forms of assistive technology;
  • Participate in cross-training with other departments within the Office of the Dean of Students;
  • Other duties as assigned.
