Job description


Engineered Steel Products is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a background in structural steel to ensure that ESP’s project delivery is effective and meets, and preferably exceeds, the requirements of the contractor. You will be accountable for the project from the end of the sales cycle through to completion.

As a Project Manager, you’ll effectively manage all sub-contractors and work closely with detailing and fabrication to deliver steel packages accurately and on time. You’ll also ensure that the contractor's representatives, the ESP management team and any associated sub-contractors are communicated with in a timely and professional manner.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the service team to identify opportunities for additional project work from our service customers.
  • Visit job sites to properly understand and document scope of potential new projects.
  • Use estimating tools to price potential projects for customers, including engaging subcontractors to get pricing, and conducting take-offs to determine material and labor costs.
  • Engage with customers to negotiate and sell projects.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors to secure best value.
  • Issue purchase orders to subcontractors.
  • Coordinate schedules with customers; ensuring subcontractors and in-house labor is scheduled to meet customer scheduling expectations.
  • Manage actual costs to meet or exceed budgeted project costs.
  • Release to the shop any required material.
  • Coordinate any needed inspections.
  • Submit billing values to billing administrator.
  • Process all change orders on any additional work, including adjusting contract amount and ensuring customer has provided proper approval.
  • Ensure all proper paperwork is submitted for closeout.


Qualification requirements:

  • Experience with industry specific software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry preferred
  • Basic knowledge of construction documents
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Lift and carry materials or tools weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions when visiting outdoor project sites.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and steel-toed boots as required.
