Job description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Detailer to join our team in Covington, GA. As a Structural Steel Detailer, you will play a crucial role in the design and fabrication of steel structures, ensuring that our projects are executed with precision and efficiency. If you have a passion for structural engineering and a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities
  • Create detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for structural steel components.

  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy and compliance with specifications.

  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings to develop accurate detailing.

  • Utilize CAD software to produce high-quality drawings and models.

  • Coordinate with fabrication teams to address any design-related issues during production.

  • Maintain organized documentation of all detailing work and revisions.

  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on detailing progress.

  • Generate and manage Bills of Material (BOMs), cut lists, and CNC fabrication files.

  • Review connection designs and coordinate with structural engineers when required.

  • Ensure detailing complies with AISC standards, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.

  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and model review sessions.

  • Maintain revision control and document management throughout project lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SDS, Tekla, or similar programs).
  • Proven experience as a Structural Steel Detailer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SDS, Tekla, or similar programs).
  • Strong understanding of structural steel design and fabrication processes & steelerection sequencing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to structural steel detailing.
  • Experience reviewing and checking the work of other detailers preferred.
