Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary:
Undergraduate Research in Structural Engineering: Castellated and Cellular Steel Beams
The student researcher is responsible for conducting a detailed literature of research on castellated and cellular beams. The review will be comprehensive, but will focus on the last 10 years. The student will organize a shared site of all relevant research, summarize the findings in each article, and prepare a draft of a comprehensive literature review for a technical journal. The student will work in the Structural Engineering Teaching and Research Laboratory, where they will load a conventional steel beam and a cellular counterpart to compare the performance. Load deflection and load strain plots will be generated to show the differences in structural behavior.
Requirements:
Individual must be detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions, able to work well both independently and as part of a team, and have critical thinking skills in order to work safely in the lab and field. Must be 18 years of age or older.
