Job description

Job Description

STV is seeking a Structural Engineering Specialist to join our team servicing the Water Practice out of either our Austin, Dallas, Houston or Oklahoma City locations. STV specializes in the planning, organization, and development of engineering activities for the construction and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, industrial buildings, hydraulic structures, etc.

Our engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national, and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through final construction close-out.

Typical Duties:

  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.

  • Develop structural engineering plans, design, and layout.

  • Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in construction drawings by drafters.

  • Research design options.

  • Prepare load combination drawings and tables for structure manufacturers.

  • Review shop drawings.

  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.

  • Attend and participate in project meetings.

  • Perform field activities such as observation of construction progress and existing field conditions.

  • Effectively communicate project progress and issues to the design team and maintain communication with the team members throughout the course of the project.

  • Capable of managing and performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks.

  • Support cost estimating with providing take-offs and getting quotes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering.

  • Successful completion of the FE exam (EIT).

  • Limited travel and field work will be required.

  • Proficiency with finite element modeling software (STAAD.PRO, SAP2000 or RISA 3D), SPCOLUMN, LPILE, HILTI, Autodesk CIVIL 3D, and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Autodesk REVIT is beneficial.

  • The selected candidate should be eligible for employment in the U.S., possess a valid driver's license, and be prepared to pass periodic drug screenings and a background check.

Compensation Range:

$75,656.68 - $86,464.77
