A day in the life of a Structural Engineer
Every day, you will progress the various projects that you manage in different ways. Sometimes it requires design on your part, reviewing the work of another engineer, doing research to understand a unique condition more thoroughly, coordinating with the project architect/other consulting engineer/contractor. Your fellow project managers and team lead will be willing to provide advice on how to approach a design or talk through a new challenge. You will also work with our staff engineers daily by delegating tasks, design or drafting depending on experience level. It also involves developing the staff engineers on the technical design side and helping them understand how other disciplines impact structural design. You will provide feedback as often as possible to help others grow.
Other responsibilities include:
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents.
