Overview
The Enterprise Strategy team at REI shapes the co-op's future by setting the vision, goals, and strategic plans. We identify impactful opportunities, define and advance strategic priorities, and guide enterprise investments to drive progress toward our objectives.
The Strategy Manager plays a pivotal role, developing impactful division or initiative strategies in support of REI's long-term objectives. This role also partners across the organization to translate strategy into clear and actionable plans, facilitate cross-functional planning, and maintain momentum on high-impact initiatives.
This position combines strategic thinking with analytical rigor to ensure initiatives are grounded in robust frameworks and deliver measurable impact. This role will serve as the direct strategic thought partner to the executive leadership team and helps shape and execute key enterprise priorities. This person also guides REI's external insights. This includes monitoring macro and industry trends, identifying new threats and opportunities, and delivering insights for enterprise-level decisions.
Success in this role requires strategic acumen, operational expertise, and strong cross-functional collaboration to align business goals with execution plans. This role is ideal for seasoned strategists who thrive in ambiguity, bring clarity to complexity, and can influence senior leaders. The ideal candidate must excel at crafting high-quality communications for senior and Board-level audiences, providing strategic expertise and consult to senior leaders, and driving accountability across multiple teams.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Support enterprise strategy development and planning to create REI's long term vision, 3-year strategic plans and economic model (in partnership with FP&A), and annual plan and priorities.
  • Conduct targeted analyses to support enterprise, divisional, and initiative strategy development as needed.
  • Support executive leadership to define, progress, and bring our most critical strategic initiatives to life. Enable alignment, drive progress, and foster accountability for strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a thought-leader across the co-op for macro, consumer, and market insights, synthesizing trends and identifying opportunities and risks that influence our current and future initiatives and strategic positioning. Advise and engage senior leaders on key competitive and industry developments.
  • Build effective collaboration across divisions, influencing stakeholders and driving alignment, decision-making, and accountability on strategic priorities. Influence stakeholders and promote adoption of strategic priorities.
  • Support developing strategic content and process to create internal communications and Board of Directors content.

Required Qualifications
  • BS or BA in a related field (business, economics, etc.), MBA preferred
  • 7+ years work experience within the retail / consumer, finance, or management consulting fields
  • 7+ years demonstrated industry and market-leading examination, modeling, and financial analysis
  • Strategic thinker and intellectually curious problem solver. Can identify and translate unclear problems or opportunities into actionable work. Articulates a clear point of view and breaks it down with hypotheses and frameworks.
  • Exceptional critical capabilities, balancing examination with judgment to uncover insights and drive decision-making ability to generate actionable insights
  • Challenges assumptions and pushes thinking forward by collaborating and influencing effectively, while remaining flexible in one's viewpoints
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into easy-to-understand content and communications. Provides clear, concise narratives and compelling visuals for senior manager audiences.
  • Demonstrate enterprise thinking by connecting and balancing division and co-op strategy. Connect the dots across teams and efforts. Anticipate how judgments in one area affect others.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experienced with AI productivity tools (Copilot, etc.)
