Job description

One Southern Indiana (1si) expects this position to be accountable for delivering programs and events that drive member engagement and positive survey results as measured against established strategic objectives, timeliness, and financial budgetary goals. The Manager of Programs & Events will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service to our members, investors, and vendors by demonstrating excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and managing a multitude of tasks.


This position will also work directly with the VP of Operations on sponsorships, budgets and revenue projections for all events and programs. The Manager of Programs & Events must also work collaboratively with staff members, volunteers, vendors, and venues to manage the complexities of the varied 1si programs and events.


In addition, this Manager of Programs & Events position will assist in establishing the strategic planning and development of event initiatives and subsequent metrics of success, implementing actions toward that strategy, and measuring results toward strategic goals. This position will partner with the VP of Strategic Partnerships in developing the Annual Sponsorship Guide and managing sponsorship sales and their deliverables; program/event communication & marketing (partnering with the Marketing Manager); facilitation of program/event committees; vendor relationship management; and support ribbon cuttings/ground breakings and ambassador program (collaborate with the Business Resources Coordinator).


The Manager of Programs & Events will also work collaboratively with: Economic Development team with the planning and execution of the MMA Summit and Manufacturing Week; the Small Business Navigator on the planning and execution of all 1si workshops/bootcamp; and any other team member responsible for programming or events that may arise – to ensure that 1si branding, deliverables and execution standards are achieved.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sponsor Relations Functions:

  • Function as support staff for Business Resource Council

o Assist in the Management and facilitation of BRC Meetings in collaboration with the VP of Operations

and VP of Strategic Partnerships

o Routinely communicate with the BRC Chair and provide BOD meeting updates to the VP of

Operations for the BRC Chair

o Provide event and program results, status, and ongoing strategy to Business Resource Council and

1si team.

• Develop the Annual Sponsorship Guide (in partnership with the VP of Strategic Partnerships).

Collaborate with the VP of Strategic Partnerships on Sponsorship Sales and attend annual investor

meetings where annual investment and sponsorship commitments are decided. 

  • Partner with the President/CEO, VP of Strategic Partnerships, VP of Operations, Marketing Manager and Business Resource Coordinator to manage and ensure consistency of deliverables and message for all membership programs and events.

  • Partner with VP of Operations with preparing and seeking sponsorship proposals, solicit new sponsors, including in-kind or trade sponsorships, and develop new sponsorship opportunities.
  • Ensure deliverables of all Sponsorship Commitments are met (marketing & media rights, speaking/presenting opportunities, event collateral distribution, signage/logo exposure, special invitations, sponsorship recognition at events, post-event reporting, etc.).

• Manage all program and event revenue and expenses to ensure budgetary goals are met. Collaborate

with the Chief Financial Officer and other staff partners (VP of Strategic Partnerships, VP-Director of

Economic Development, VP of Operations, and Small Business Navigator) in setting annual program and

event revenue and expense goals

• Assists 1si Economic Development team to coordinate and implement National Manufacturing Week

within the MMA

• Work with the President/CEO and VP of Strategic Partnerships in planning and executing (3-5) Advocacy

Events annually: Local/State/Federal. Assist with securing the Speakers/Officials, date and topics. Develop

a plan to secure sponsorship, set registration, and plan/execute the events in coordination with the VP of

Operations and Business Resource Coordinator 

  • Develop and manage individual program and event budget and planning tools (budget tracking, project timeline, production schedules, event specs, etc.). Ensure achievement of annual program and event budget by managing and tracking individual program and event budgets, adjusting, as necessary and communicate changes to VP of Operations and Chief Financial Officer
  • Manage all programs and events to specification, budget, and production timeline. This includes creating and managing event committees, seeking staff support when needed, and engaging member volunteers (Ambassadors) by preparing event agendas, scripts, and “run of show” outlines • Work directly with vendors and member partners to negotiate contracts for various services and products related to the event or program. This includes, collecting bids, reviewing venues, interviewing new vendors, etc. With coordination of the CFO, review, negotiate terms, coordinate deposits (as necessary) and collect signatures for all contracts
  • Balance creativity with logistics, financial planning, and vendor management duties
  • Must excel at multi-tasking and balancing big-picture concerns like venue and contractor selection with details like décor and meal planning, effectively utilizing resources and personnel to stage large- and small-scale events
  • Collaborate with the Markeing Manager in the development of marketing strategies, materials, and tools to drive attendance and media coverage for all events and programs
  • Manage CRM database (currently ATLAS) for all events and programs which includes event set up, registrations, attendance records, sponsorship categories, invoices etc.
  • Analyze the event or program’s success, review and recap survey results, solicit committee feedback, and recommend creative solutions to ensure event and program “freshness”, viability, and continued member engagement
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Undergraduate degree preferred; or High School Diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate) with minimum three (3) years of commensurate events, promotions, and/or marketing experience.


Salary Range: $55K - $65K
