Job description

Turn strategic partnerships and revenue innovation into lasting global impact
Position Overview
As the Director of Strategic Growth & Partnerships at Sigma Nursing, you will be responsible for developing and executing the organization's non-dues revenue strategy, leading business development, Marketplace operations, sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and revenue-generating initiatives that support long-term growth and financial sustainability.
In this role, you will define the organization's revenue architecture, from lead qualification and sales processes to forecasting and pipeline management, while directing Marketplace, e-commerce, and business-to-business sales operations. You will also guide the cultivation, negotiation, and stewardship of sponsorships and strategic partnerships with corporate, academic, foundation, and industry organizations.
You will provide strategic financial oversight for a $3.5 million+ non-dues revenue portfolio, ensuring disciplined management of sponsorships, partnerships, Marketplace operations, and B2B sales channels.
Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Membership & Volunteer Engagement, Events, Publications, Learning & Development, and Finance, you will align revenue strategies with organizational priorities and expand strategic relationships and business opportunities. You will also provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to assigned Marketplace staff.
Success in this role means non-dues revenue continues to grow through scalable business development strategies, high-performing Marketplace operations, strong sponsorship and partnership portfolios, and disciplined financial management. Through these efforts, you will strengthen Sigma's financial sustainability, expand opportunities to serve members and stakeholders, and advance the organization's mission through innovative partnerships and revenue streams.
This position calls for strategic business development expertise, financial acumen, strong negotiation and relationship management skills, data-informed decision making, and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, ideally backed by 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in business development, e-commerce, or revenue generation.
Location, Travel & Compensation
This is a hybrid and remote-friendly role, open to U.S.-based professionals nationwide.
Domestic and international travel to organizational events and in-person gatherings is expected approximately 4 - 6 times per year.
The salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000; offers are made within this range to ensure equity, consistency, and fiscal responsibility.
A Week in the Life
A typical week often begins at your desk with a look at Marketplace analytics, sales performance, and revenue dashboards from the days before. You check progress against annual goals, flag where forecasting, pricing, or lead generation strategies need adjustment, and set priorities before the first meeting of the week.
From there, your calendar fills with a mix of internal and external conversations. You join cross-functional check-ins with Marketing, Membership & Volunteer Engagement, Events, Publications, Learning & Development, and Finance, working to align revenue-generating initiatives with organizational priorities and member value, then move into a call with a prospective corporate partner, walking through sponsorship options and shaping the terms of a new relationship.
A good chunk of your time is spent on partnerships and Marketplace operations. You connect with corporate, academic, foundation, and industry contacts to cultivate new sponsorships, negotiate terms, and steward existing relationships toward renewal, then turn to the operational side of the business, reviewing fulfillment, inventory management, vendor relationships, and contract administration to keep Marketplace and B2B sales running smoothly.
You also carve out time to dig into CRM data and customer insights, looking for openings to improve acquisition, retention, and lifetime value, and to check in with your Marketplace staff, offering coaching, clearing roadblocks, and reinforcing the goals you have set together.
Somewhere in the mix, you sit down with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and margin management for the non-dues revenue portfolio, and prepare revenue forecasts and business performance updates that may lead directly into a presentation to executive leadership or, on occasion, the Board of Directors.
By the time the week winds down, you are reviewing wins and open threads: a sponsorship agreement moving toward signature, a Marketplace metric worth watching, a staff member ready for more responsibility. You may close things out by representing the organization at an external event or industry conversation, the kind of moment that expands its visibility, influence, and long-term financial sustainability, before turning your attention to what comes next.
You Would Thrive in This Position If
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, healthcare administration, or a related field (a master's degree or CAE credential is a plus).
  • You bring 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in business development, e-commerce, or revenue generation, with a track record of leading teams to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • You have hands-on experience managing budgets, forecasting revenue, and overseeing P&L performance, along with strong analytical, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • You are skilled at managing e-commerce platforms and proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • You have a proven ability to build, negotiate, and steward strategic institutional partnerships across corporate, academic, foundation, and industry sectors.
  • You are comfortable managing B2B sales channels and funnels, ideally within a global membership organization, association, or subscription-based environment.
  • You are confident presenting revenue forecasts and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and, as appropriate, the Board of Directors.
