Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Insurance Growth & Advisor Strategy to lead the Insurance Specialist team while driving strategic business development, advisor engagement, and firm growth initiatives. This executive leadership role is responsible for improving sales execution, coaching and developing Insurance Specialists, expanding relationships with existing advisory firms, and cultivating new RIA partnerships.

This is not an individual contributor sales position. Instead, the role focuses on leadership, people development, strategic planning, and execution. The successful candidate will partner closely with executive leadership, advanced sales, marketing, and financial advisors to strengthen the firm’s insurance business and support long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead the day-to-day management of the Insurance Specialist team.
  • Conduct weekly pipeline reviews and enforce activity standards across quoting, applications, placement, and case quality.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Insurance Specialists through ride-alongs, structured training, and ongoing performance management.
  • Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, territory assignments, and employee development.
  • Hold team members accountable to individual business plans and execution standards.
Business Development
  • Expand relationships with existing advisory firms while developing new strategic partnerships.
  • Position the firm’s value proposition to Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and advance opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Drive advisor penetration by increasing advisor engagement, case volume, and product utilization.
  • Develop strategic account plans and coordinate executive outreach, joint meetings, roadshows, and advisor events.
  • Utilize conferences, referrals, outbound outreach, and networking to generate new opportunities.
Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Lead weekly pipeline and activity review meetings.
  • Improve conversion rates throughout the sales funnel from quote through policy placement.
  • Strengthen advisor engagement and improve overall Insurance Specialist execution.
  • Coordinate with advanced planning teams on complex insurance cases.
  • Ensure consistent execution of business plans and account strategies.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Serve as the liaison between Insurance Specialists, Advanced Sales, Marketing, and Executive Leadership.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into actionable execution plans.
  • Partner with Marketing on conference strategy, advisor messaging, and business development initiatives.
  • Participate as a member of the executive leadership team to support firm-wide growth objectives.
Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of experience as a Life Insurance Wholesaler, Annuity Wholesaler, or similar senior insurance sales leadership role.
  • Experience working directly with Financial Advisors and executive leadership.
  • Strong technical insurance knowledge and case design expertise.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing sales professionals.
  • Experience managing pipeline reviews, sales execution, and advisor engagement.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working within a Brokerage General Agency (BGA) environment.
  • FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 licenses.
Preferred
  • Experience leading Insurance Specialist or wholesaler teams.
  • Experience building strategic relationships with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs).
  • Strong background in advisor distribution and insurance sales strategy.
