| Aspect | Stormwater Engineer | Civil Engineer |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Bachelor's in Civil/Environmental Engineering, PE license often preferred | Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, PE license often required |
| Work Environment | Designing stormwater systems, flood control, drainage projects | Broader infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, water supply |
| Industry Usage | Specializes in stormwater management and environmental compliance | Works across various infrastructure sectors, including stormwater |
While both roles require civil engineering credentials and often involve similar work environments, Stormwater Engineers focus specifically on designing and managing stormwater systems, flood control, and drainage solutions. Civil Engineers have a broader scope, covering multiple infrastructure projects. If you're interested in stormwater-specific work, pursuing a career as a Stormwater Engineer offers specialized opportunities within the civil engineering field.
