Job description

Responsibilities and Expectations:
The purpose of this job description is to give new employees an overview of what is expected of Store Manager at Hot Spot Stores. The following list is not all-inclusive, the position may be asked to perform other duties, especially those that are not considered usual and customary in the convenience store industry. Store Manager must report to the Area Manager for assistance and guidance.
Store Operations:
  • Be able to perform all duties of a Assistance Store Manager. • Ensure prompt reconciliation of store operations paperwork.
  • Be enthused about helping other store employees.
  • Must be able to step in when other employees need assistance or guidance.
  • Forecast, order, stock and merchandise product.
  • Possess good management skills.
  • Follow company policies and procedures as well as state and local laws concerning alcohol, tobacco, money orders, ephedrine sales, and lottery sales.
  • Ensure prompt reconciliation of store operations paperwork.
  • The ability to recruit, lead, train and motivate store employees, while having the ability to enforce accountability to achieve profitable results.
  • Must be able to handle any operational and personnel issues within the store and report back to the District Supervisor.
  • Comply with all county and state laws, safety laws, safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures.
  • Ensure that inventory, cash and labor is controlled.
  • Managers must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Managers are required to drive (but not limited to) bank, post office and off-site meetings.

Customer Service:
  • Verify that all other store employees are performing their duties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure prompt, efficient and courteous customer service.
  • Greet and thank all customers in a timely and professional manner and promote store specials.
  • Dress in a manner that is consistent with the Hot Spot and Shell Store policies.

Job Specifications:
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Operations and maintenance of store equipment.
  • Ability to process all vendor invoices
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently
  • Ability to operate necessary machines within the store
  • Must be able to work a minimum 44 hours per week and able to work weekends, holidays and shifts as needed.
  • Retail, grocery, or convenience store management experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, bending and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to cold temperatures when stocking in refrigerator units.
  • Ability to use safety equipment within the store.
