  • Typical hours 9 p-5:30 a
  • No weekends or holidays unless we have a special project
  • Weekend Resource on call rotation with the other supervisors
  • On nights, oversee anywhere from 6 - 18 colleagues depending on the time and day

Position Summary:
Coordinates closely with Surgery to ensure Operating Room (OR) instrumentation and case carts are prepared, reviewing schedules in advance to meet daily needs. Processes and supplies equipment and materials using established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Supports efficient workflow by anticipating provider requests, preparing case setups, and addressing patient care needs. Focuses on continuous process improvement while maintaining smooth day-to-day operations.
What the Sterile Processing Supervisor, 3rd Shift will need:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing department
  • Certification in Central Sterile Processing
  • Membership in Central Sterile Processing Professional Organization
  • Specialized certification such as CIS or CER

What the Sterile Processing Supervisor, 3rd Shift will do:
  • Contributes to the OR efficiency by having an understanding of concepts and principles of sterilization and disinfection and identifying process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees shift operations.
  • Resolves problems within area of specialty.
  • Facilitates scheduling, staffing and daily adjustments based on department needs, budgetary parameters and resources available.
  • Coordinates the daily assignment work for the Central Processing staff.
  • Facilitates workflow of department, which includes but is not limited to identifying problems and suggested needed.
  • Facilitates instrumentation turnover by coordination of cleaning, processing and sterilization of instrumentation as needed.
  • Prioritizing avoidance of flash sterilization of surgical trays containing implantables.
  • Develops daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures and, as requested, assists in assessment of goal attainment.
