STEM Academy Teacher - West Oso Junior High Wage/Hour Status: Full Time - 10 Month ExemptReports to: Campus Principal Primary Purpose: Provide STEM students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areaassigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enablestudents to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.QualificationsBachelor's degree required. Degree in Education, STEM-related field, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.Valid Texas teaching certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.Ability to teach STEM Academy courses as well as CORE content classes.Experience with coding, robotics, drones, engineering, and STEM-related programs preferred.Software proficiencies including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, coding platforms, robotics applications, and educational technology tools.Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.Responsibilities and DutiesMaintain open lines of communication with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the school community.Participate in professional development opportunities as requested or desired.Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior, including professional dress and conduct.Support the mission and vision of the district and STEM Academy program.Follow policies and procedures established by school, district, local, and state agencies.Serve as a positive role model for students.Perform other duties as assigned.STEM Academy Teacher ResponsibilitiesTeach Elective STEM Academy classes focused on exploration, innovation, and the development of 21st century skills, including communication, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.Develop and implement engaging, hands-on, inquiry-based STEM lessons aligned with state standards and Project Lead the Way curriculum when applicable.Integrate science, technology, engineering, mathematics, coding, robotics, drones, and real-world problem solving into classroom instruction.Facilitate student participation in STEM-related programs and organizations including Robotics, Drones, Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME), First Lego League, and Technology Student Association (TSA).Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including project-based learning, collaborative learning, differentiated instruction, and technology integration to meet diverse student needs.Create a classroom environment that promotes innovation, teamwork, student engagement, and academic achievement.Assess student learning and use assessment data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.Effectively integrate technology into instruction, communication, and administrative responsibilities.Maintain accurate records, reports, lesson plans, and documentation as required by district procedures.Manage student behavior in accordance with campus and district expectations.Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities and campus-wide STEM initiatives.Sponsor or assist with extracurricular STEM activities, competitions, showcases, or clubs as assigned.Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and instructional strategies; training and support will be provided as needed.Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental FactorsOccasional travel; prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, bending, stooping, walking, and use of hands
