Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior SATCOM Test Engineer that will collaborate across System Engineering, Software Engineering and Hardware Engineering teams to bring advanced Satellite Communication products to market. This position is responsible for verification and validation testing of engineering designs prior to market release. The duties of a successful team member include developing test plans, procedures, test automation and performing validation testing on satellite communication equipment, software, and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Take system, hardware and software level requirements and develop verification test procedures.
  • Create, interpret, modify programming source code in multiple languages such as Python, C and Java for automated test software.
  • Support Integration and Test, Design Verification, First Article and Production test.
  • Troubleshoot moderate to complex satellite communication equipment and software.
  • Test advanced product features and test methods as follows:
    • Digital Intermediate Frequency Interoperability (DIFI) IEEE-ISTO STD 4900-2021 standard 1.1 over 100 GigE interfaces.
    • RF and waveform testing to MIL-STD-188-165B requirements.
    • Multi-carrier satellite modem
    • Ability to automate RF calibration routines.
  • Report, track and monitor product performance, capabilities, and defects.
  • Write technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
  • Create and setup test fixtures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in programming with C/C++, Python and Java
  • Experience with lab and network equipment, such as Spectrum Analyzers, AWGN Noise Sources, Traffic Generators, Satellite Link Emulators, Oscilloscopes, Protocol analyzers, Routers, Ethernet Managed Switches and Wireshark.
  • Experience testing to MIL-STD-188-165B (and -165A) standard.
  • Understanding of modern satellite modem waveforms.
  • Experience automating test equipment over remote GPIB, Ethernet, and SNMP.
  • Experience with DIFI IEEE-ISTO STD 4900-2021
  • Experience with RF calibration automaton.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
    • OR 10+ years industry related experience in lieu of education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of related working experience in a similar Test Engineer position
