Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000 USD
Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus. In this role you will perform research, development, testing, and sustaining engineering activities of Iridium services. As a Test Engineer III, you'll be responsible for verifying the reliability and robustness of Iridium products and communication services and will conduct development activities related to our test automation efforts. What You'll Do:
  • Work collaboratively with software, hardware, and system development engineers to ensure high product quality
  • Decompose requirements into verifiable test objectives
  • Perform integration, maintenance, and operation of system hardware, lab hardware, and software systems
  • Conduct implementation and maintenance of communication products automated test system and software
  • Develop scripts and/or systems to automatically test and validate products, collect test artifacts, produce product test metrics and generate reports
  • Recreate and isolate reported software and/or hardware defects using test infrastructure and document non-compliances
  • Research and implement hardware upgrades of ground infrastructure and test systems
  • Maintain and execute test automation for feature, defect and regression testing
  • Maintain configuration management of test automation software and scripts
  • Gain mastery of industry standard tools and software such as Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana, Amazon Web Services, CI/CD DevOps pipelines, containers and more

What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with test execution and analysis, test automation, and/or software development
  • Previous experience working with RF systems and wireless communication technologies, including RF testing, signal characterization, or performance validation is highly desired
  • Intermediate knowledge of Cloud Computing Services and Cloud Infrastructure
  • Intermediate knowledge of featured services such as storage, compute services, containers, and virtual servers
  • A solid understanding of Linux and/or Unix operating systems
  • Previous experience with software automation, using any of the following: Python, C, C++, C#, Java, etc.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Software management tools (JIRA, GIT and/or Bamboo)
    • Integrated Development Environment (PyCharm, Spyder, Pydev, etc.)
    • Machine virtualization, specifically VMware Desktop and ESXi
    • Databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or SQL Server
    • Knowledge of network switches and routers
    • Knowledge of space systems and orbital analysis
    • Agile development methodology
  • Strong desire to think creatively and drive innovative solutions to complex problems, continuously improving processes, tools, or technologies
  • A strong motivation to engage with and enhance test automation processes through innovation
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
We'll also need you to:
  • This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of that U.S. government contract, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens
  • Be willing and able to travel up to 15 days annually
  • Be willing and able to be on-call to support operational issues

Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
