Role
We are seeking a Water Technician to join our Environmental Department. In this role, you will support environmental monitoring programs by conducting sampling, analysis, and documentation related to water and waste management.. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization committed to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the clean energy sector.
The role is based initially at our Winnemucca office but will eventually be based at the Thacker Pass site, located approximately 70 miles northwest of Winnemucca, NV and reports to the Environmental Engineer. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct sampling and monitoring of environmental media, including groundwater, surface water and drinking water
  • Perform on-site field measurements (temperature, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity) using field instrumentation
  • Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot field equipment to ensure data accuracy.
  • Record and document sampling locations, methodologies, and field observations with precision.
  • Follow strict chain-of-custody procedures and sampling protocols, ensuring proper labeling, preservation, and timely delivery of samples to laboratories.
  • Assist in preparing sampling reports and compiling field data for review and submission.
  • Review and analyze environmental data to identify patterns or potential issues.
  • Support Environmental Manger with drafting letters, reports, for regulatory documentation.
  • Perform site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and applicable permits.
  • Monitor for potential environmental hazards and pollutants that may pose a risk to the environment
  • Cross train with Air Technician to provide coverage during absences.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely to access remote sampling sites
  • Uphold al safety, environmental, and company standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years field experience conducting environmental or water monitoring
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and environmental conditions
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
