The Opportunity
TECKpert is seeking a Full Stack Application Developer to support our client, a state transportation agency in Tallahassee, FL. This role serves the Office of Information Technology by facilitating software development, documenting critical business processes, analyzing current business functions for effectiveness and efficiency, assisting in process redesign, and supporting development and testing across financial applications and dependent business processes.
The developer will act as a subject matter expert for complex financial business processes on large cross-functional application projects, ensuring robust and scalable solutions are implemented. The role includes hands-on development against Azure SQL, SQL Server, and Oracle databases, plus leadership of code quality across integration, staging, and production environments.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Work as a developer, facilitator, and subject matter expert for applications and services dealing with complex financial business processes on large cross-functional application projects
  • Ensure robust and scalable solutions are implemented and that software development standards are followed
  • Provide guidance and oversight to quality assurance on all new code from inception through integration, staging, and production environments
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve problems and issues using troubleshooting tools and techniques and teamwork
  • Contribute to continuous improvement including design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies, and collaboration with other developers and architects to drive guidelines, methodologies, and documentation
  • Work in partnership with distributed cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of the project are communicated, supported, and delivered to the highest standards
  • Assist with re-engineering financial systems and dependent business processes in areas impacted by ongoing business transformation
  • Develop and apply knowledge of trends, relevant software development technologies, and methodologies

Compensation and Term
This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $70 per hour or $130,000 per year.
Qualifications you need
A successful candidate has the following experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or another related technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a lead developer or development manager
  • Minimum 5 years of broad experience working with development technologies including Azure SQL, SQL Server, and Oracle databases (or similar relational databases)
  • Strong SQL proficiency and knowledge of terminology and concepts of relational databases
  • Experience with development and maintenance of software systems dealing with complex financial business processes
  • Ability to conduct complex systems analysis and translate user requirements into business solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and lead development teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET framework
  • Familiarity with ORMs, Entity Framework, and NHibernate
  • Experience integrating research and best practices into problem avoidance and continuous improvement
  • Ability to display professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff
  • Prior experience delivering under state or federal government IT contracts
