Job Description
Title: Sr. SQL Database Administrator
Location: Metro Detroit, MI
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen/GreenCard Holder
Duration: contract
Department: Information Systems
Job Summary:
The Database Administrator is responsible maintaining systems, tuning, aiding in design and solving database issues for systems running SQL server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012.
Job Responsibilities:
โ€ข Experience setting up backups and recovery scripts.
โ€ข Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur.
โ€ข Ability to create stored procedures to facilitate processing and maintenance.
โ€ข Experience working with very large databases.
โ€ข Ability to automate everyday tasks using stored procedures, PowerShell or other language.
โ€ข Experience with Mirroring, Logshipping, Service Broker, Partitioning, Change Data Capture, Clustering and other options for SQL Server.
โ€ข Understanding of tuning.
โ€ข Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities.
โ€ข Install and configure new SQL Server instances.
โ€ข Deploy database change scripts.
โ€ข When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
โ€ข Document the company's database environment.
โ€ข SSIS experience for loading data into systems (ETL).
โ€ข Experience maintaining SSAS.
โ€ข Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
Qualifications
  • BS in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Strong T-SQL and SQL Server skills.
  • Experience working with large databases.
