Job description

Mercy Health Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio is seeking an experienced physician assistant to join our growing cardiothoracic surgery service line.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient care and counsel patients alongside and under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Follow up with patients after surgery in the office serving as a key role between patient and office.
  • Perform physical assessments & complete histories on patients.
  • Round on patients admitted to the hospital; review care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians.
  • Assist in the operating room.  Vein harvest experience required.
  • Complete discharge summaries.
  • Order medications, treatments, labs, etc. as described and permitted under the Ohio State Medical Board supervision agreement and the Mercy Health Springfields credentialing boards.
  • Be available for call about patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule.  Includes holiday responsibilities.
  • Other duties as determined by the supervising physician(s).

Education and Skills Required:

  1. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
  2. Current licensure with the state of Ohio as a physician assistant.
  3. Good verbal and written communication skills.
