Job description

The Head of Strategic Programs, Government Affairs is a senior leader with central responsibility for designing strategies and executing partnerships, events and programs that enable Spotify to raise its profile with key public policy individuals and organizations. This is a new position that provides an opportunity for the right individual to design an impactful and effective program then scale it for global replication.

This leader owns how Spotify's policy priorities are translated into coordinated, high-impact engagements with key audiences, and will be responsible for convening and navigating cross-functional teams within Spotify to identify opportunities and deploy and execute a range of strategic and activations to deliver the right message, to the right audience, at the right time.  

Operating as a central program leader, this person brings together strategy, political acumen, content, and creative execution to deliver consistent, high-quality storytelling and engagement to target audiences.

This role will report to the Global Head of Government Affairs and be based in Washington, DC.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the development and execution of engagement programs aligned with company priorities and advocacy objectives.
  • Identify, design, and execute initiatives and events that creatively tell Spotify's story, expand its profile, and deepen engagement with policymakers and policy-adjacent audiences in key markets.
  • Be able to set the strategy while also rolling up their sleeves to deliver high-quality execution of key moments. This role will partner closely with Spotify's broader events teams on larger initiatives, while independently owning smaller events and experiences from concept through execution.
  • Build and leverage key external relationships to strengthen Spotify's presence in key markets and engagement with a range of stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups with Government Affairs, Communications, Social Impact, Marketing and others to expand networks, advance advocacy goals, and build goodwill with key audiences.
  • Create frameworks and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of these initiatives.
Who You Are
  • 10+ years leading large-scale programs, events, or strategic initiatives, ideally in public affairs, government relations, creative industries, or adjacent fields.
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-workstream programs end-to-end, from strategy through execution, across multiple markets or regions.
  • Deep understanding of the political and cultural landscape in the US, UK and EU.
  • A creative leader and thought partner, bringing ideas that align with Spotify's objectives and business profile.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex engagement strategies, including both small and large events, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess network of relationships with and ability to identify new organizations, industry groups, and influential political and cultural stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive briefings and public-facing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence from within and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing high-profile or sensitive issues with strong judgment and discretion.
  • Skilled at balancing business objectives, reputational considerations, and advocacy priorities.
  • Knowledge of political compliance requirements.

  • This role is based in our Washington, DC office
  • Our Washington, DC office is where this team does its best work together. This role is fully on-site, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and connection through daily in-person interactions.
The United States base range for this position is $236,000 - $337, 235 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
