Job Summary


The Facility Maintenance Manager oversees all building maintenance and system operations to ensure the Spectrum Center always functions smoothly, including during events. This position requires strong collaboration across CRVA departments within the Spectrum Center and serves as the primary liaison with the Hornets for team-related projects.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Essential Job Duties
  • Operates, identifies, and prioritizes all plant and system repairs.
  • Provides direction to Maintenance Technicians by assigning duties determined by work orders or special projects based on Maintenance Technicians individual trade knowledge and abilities.
  • Places a strong emphasis on safety within the entire department daily.
  • Possesses familiarity and a working knowledge of all support operational systems in the Maintenance Departments such as HVAC, Fire Suppression, Firm Alarm, Electrical Distribution, Lighting Programs, Security Systems, AV, Plumbing and Food Services, Operable Doors, etc.
  • Provides suggestions for additional training to expand abilities of Technicians
  • Fosters the environment of self-improvement within the staff.
  • Schedules lighting systems to accommodate event schedules and energy efficiency.
  • Coordinates with JCI on operation and maintenance of all HVAC systems
  • Builds schedule for all preventative maintenance on plant and system equipment.
  • Makes recommendations as to when existing staff cannot handle a project and need outside contractors for efficient and timely resolution of items.
  • Forecasts and orders equipment for staff to complete repairs of maintenance tasks.
  • Creates work orders for each task included on the schedule to ensure timely and proper completion.
  • Evaluates skills and abilities of staff members
  • Documents process and creates monthly status reports of special projects for CRVA.
  • Implements accountability monitoring via daily activity worksheets and provides monthly reports to staff and leadership.
  • Manage all ADP and scheduling requirements as needed to have proper coverage for day to day operations as well as events.
  • Process payroll for all full time engineers
  • Approve all time off request from Maintenance dept with emphasis on maintaining acceptable coverage for all events and day to day operations.
  • Manage event schedules between Supervisor and Manager to have clear leadership for entire event.
  • Monitors all life safety systems in facility to ensure systems are 100% operational for all events.
  • Provides event supervision for all facility events and delegates tasks to appropriate staff members during each event.
  • Requires to work varying hours based on event schedules
  • Work with Operations manager to maintain positive relationships between CRVA employees.
  • Manages department budget including development, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Sit on the safety committee
  • CRVA MOD for assigned events and shifts
  • Develop department goals & KPI’s
  • May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility


  • This job is responsible for budgetary preparatory work.
  • This job will have periodic access to confidential data including financial statements, company records and/or minutes, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.


Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manages one full-time subordinate supervisor and six employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting systems, general carpentry, and building automation systems.

  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma (H. S.) and two to three years of specialized schooling; and five to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
  • The employee must regularly use power hand tools.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and may fluctuate based on the event.
