Job description

Spectrum Billing Solutions is a revenue cycle management company for healthcare organizations. We are seeking to add a Revenue Cycle Billing Specialist to our growing team. The Revenue Cycle Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for the submission of insurance claims to payors, posting payments, and subsequent follow-up to ensure claims are processed in a timely and accurate manner. The Medical Billing Specialist will have the opportunity to engage with various departments of the Revenue Cycle team to further develop his or her knowledge and skills.
This is a remote or hybrid in-office/remote position.
Responsibilities:

  • Submit Electronic Claims in a timely and accurate manner
  • Verify correct insurance filing information
  • Research, resolve and resubmit any rejected claims in a timely manner
  • Check claim status on appropriate payor systems and contact insurances as needed
  • Post payments received from payors
  • Send Medical Records and other documentation to payors as requested 
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and close
  • Meet daily, monthly and quarterly billing metrics

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of billing or related healthcare experience  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Billing Certification preferred
  • Experience in Behavioral and/or Mental Health billing preferred
  • Proficient in CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other critical governmental regulations
  • Solid understanding of the healthcare industry and revenue cycle process
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to comprehend insurance documentation and follow detailed procedures in an organized and efficient manner        
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Superior communication, problem-solving and follow-up skills
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, billing software)
