Job Description

We are looking for motivated self-starters to come join our team at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in our Staff Cafeteria “The Bean”. Develop your skills as you interact daily with colleagues and leaders and open the door to endless opportunities with a luxury hotel brand whether you are looking for a future career in Culinary or in Guest Services within Food & Beverage.

Starting Rate: $20.47 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $23.33.

Job Duties Include:  

  • Support daily staff cafeteria operations by setting up service areas, restocking stations, and ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted buffet flow

  • Prepare and assist with cooking, seasoning, and presenting food items in accordance with recipes, quality standards, and Chef direction

  • Maintain food safety and quality by following FIFO procedures, accurate labeling, allergen awareness, and temperature logging

  • Deliver friendly, professional service while keeping dining areas stocked, organized, and welcoming

  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards across all work areas, equipment, dishes, and service items

  • Follow all Fairmont standards, culinary procedures, and complete additional duties as required

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of food and beverage experience, including light kitchen prep and maintaining cleanliness in a dining room during service
  • Valid Canadian Food Handlers Certification
  • Familiarity with professional chef knives and tools, with the ability to perform basic knife cuts
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Committed to delivering high levels of customer service and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive in anticipating needs, understanding that internal guests have only 30 minutes for their break
