Job Summary
Southwire is seeking a Lead Solutions Engineer who will drive the growth initiatives of Southwire in servicing the high volume of data centers, energy storage systems, microgrids, industrial, OEM and utility customers end users in North America and internationally. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of a variety of complex engineering applications. They will have commercial experience and be proficient in ideating, designing, and implementing commercial-scale service solutions.
A Lead Solutions Engineer will translate customer needs into technical solutions, bridge the gap between sales and engineering. Work with customers to understand their challenges, design optimal solutions using Southwire products/services, and ultimately help guide the sales process with technical expertise. Collaborate with both the engineering and product management teams to improve solutions based on customer feedback.
Responsibilities include aligning engineering activities with company objectives, driving the specification within the relevant market trends. Interface directly with customers, host in-depth product training, and lead troubleshooting efforts while partnering with agents, distributors, inside & outside sales, operation, and product management to deliver value-add solutions to electrical designers, electricians, general & electrical contractors, engineers, project owners, and EPCs.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide deep technical knowledge about the company's products and services, demonstrating their capabilities and benefits to potential customers.
  2. Drive the specification process for current and emerging markets.
  3. Identify customers' technical pain points during the life cycle and translate them into new engineering solutions.
  4. Identify and drive specification differentiation between Southwire and competitors.
  5. Lead/guide complex technical conversations around Southwire new products and services.
  6. Interpret electrical/mechanical diagrams, which include system accessories, to provide the best-in-class solutions.
  7. Develop and launch novel service solutions that meet customer needs, while considering factors like cost, value-add, feasibility, and scalability.
  8. Promote Southwire's brand through videos, whitepapers, webinars, customer presentations and serving as a thought leader in industry.
  9. Lead codes and standards development activities and drive specification through the adoption of new requirements.

Bachelor's Degree
Specialized Degree: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
8-11 Years of Experience
Field(s) of Expertise:
  • Electrical Systems Power Design
  • Digital Twins
  • Engineering: application support and/or product engineering experience in the wire and cable, power, utility, manufacturing, or electrical industry.
  • Product engineering: design, development, launch and commercialization.

Preferred Education & Experience
Master's Degree
Specialized Degree: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
12-14 Years of Experience
Field(s) of Expertise:
  • Experience in Data Centers, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Microgrids or Utility product installation.
