Operates the Jacket Line consistently meeting Hendrix's quality and productivity requirements in a safe manner with minimum scrap.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Complies with company safety rules at all times during working hours and ensures the safety of himself/herself and others at his/her operating station.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Works in a professional manner, punctual and highly dependable.
  • Mechanically sets up strander and jacket line, pay-offs through take-up operations, including installation of appropriate tooling and all auxiliary line equipment needed to produce varying cable designs described in the Engineering Specification.
  • Consistently monitors the supply of raw material to ensure a continuous operation.
  • Performs required measurements with company approved measuring devices to ensure final process meets the required specifications.
  • Verifies the measuring devices are calibrated.
  • Generate product identification tags for finished products and maintains accurate record keeping of all pertinent information required by Hendrix, including work center line quality records.
  • Visually inspect neutral spools for damaged wires.
  • Perform cold welds of bare neutral wires to maintain spool operation.
  • Responsible for scrapping balance copper from the unloaded spools using sweed chopper.
  • Performs head clean-ups and screw pulls when required or as according to schedule.
  • Shares in the responsibility of terminating jacketed cable for electrical testing, if applicable.
  • Completes and passes Fork Lift Safety Training.
  • Takes corrective action to ensure quality product.
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Understanding of the basic extrusion line operation including the line components associated with the processes.
  • Operation of the pay-off and take-up equipment.
  • Tools and measuring devices applicable to the industry.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Position requires individuals with proven mechanical aptitude. Must have the ability to:

Read micrometers and other related precision tools.

Perform shop arithmetic.

Read and follow written instructions.

Communicate effectively to receive and pass on information and instructions.

Troubleshoot basic line problems.

Continuously pay attention to detail.

Fulfill simple computer tasks.

Work within a Team structure.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Exert thirty (30) to fifty (50) pounds of force with cable cutters.
  • Visually inspect quality of product.
  • Use hand held tools and measuring devices
