Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator for a wire manufacturing facility in Fontana, CA. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $20.66/hr. In this role, you will set up and operate straight & cut machines to cut and straighten wire to customer specifications, inspecting finished pieces with precision measuring tools.
Pay: $20.66/hr
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:30pm to 6am, Will train on 1st shift.
Location: Fontana, CA
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant / Factory
Responsibilities
  • Set up straight & cut machines according to work orders, including pulling wire through the machine, configuring rollers or wire straightener, and setting cut length.
  • Select the proper run speed for each job based on material and customer specifications.
  • Inspect finished wire for surface quality, cut length, straightness, and piece count using a micrometer, caliper, tape measure, and other measuring devices.
  • Read and follow work orders and customer drawings before starting each job.
  • Tag and prepare completed material for the next process and complete work order sign-off.
  • Perform daily housekeeping in your work cell and report any quality or safety issues to your supervisor immediately.

Minimum Requirements
  • 6+ months of experience working with wire in a manufacturing or production environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating straight & cut, coil-to-bar, or similar wire processing machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, work orders, and dimensional specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
  • Familiarity with wire quality standards - surface finish, tensile properties, straightness, and piece count verification.
  • Prior work in wire drawing, wire forming, metal fabrication, or other metals manufacturing environments.
  • You may be a great fit if you've held any of these titles: Wire Machine Operator, Straight & Cut Operator, Wire Processing Operator, Cut-to-Length Operator, Metal Forming Machine Operator, Production Machine Operator, Wire Fabrication Operator, Manufacturing Machine Operator, Light Industrial Machine Operator, Wire Drawing Operator.

Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the shift.
  • Steel toe boots required - employee-provided.
